First Cymru, Tap On Tap Off
First Cymru
The Brief
The brief was to create an engaging film to showcase an innovative way to travel by bus. Now, traditionally, you get on a bus and pay for it with cash or a card; talking to the bus driver to do so. So this was something very, very new. And we felt the best way to educate their audience was with a presenter-led approach. So, naturally, we discussed different approaches to effectively share the change.
Pre-Production
After the discussion, we started to write a script for our presenter based on some PR material that the marketing team had created. It took a bit of tailoring based on some of the locations we needed to film at. But overall, this came together quite nicely. While writing the script and leading up to the day of filming, we worked with the First Cymru team to select a presenter - we had a selection of individuals to prospectively cast as our one presenter.
And we were very keen to get involved with one specific individual. And that man is Luke Davies. He's a Llanelli man, and we felt his personality fit the role perfectly. After a little back & forth, and a sample of his work, the First Cymru team was sold, and so Luke was cast as our very own presenter.
Production
That moved us swiftly on to production and due to some time constraints, we only had a single day of filming to get all aspects of the video captured. And it’s safe to say Luke smashed it. He did a brilliant job and even offered some advice on how he could phrase certain pieces of the camera as we went, which we gladly took on board. We managed to dodge the rain and overall it was a big success because we captured everything that was on our shot list; even some bonus material for their social media accounts.
Post Production
Now during pre-production, we prepared an AV script. This is a document that outlines simple instructions for shots, dialogue, narrative, visuals on screen, and so on. And because we did this, the filming went very smoothly. Now we call this approach shoot to edit and basically, it eliminates as many challenges and as many problems as you can have in the post-production process.
So when we sent the primary film to the First Cymru Team, they were very, very pleased. It had gone exactly how we had planned & the only changes we needed to make were some pricing structures that First Cymru had to change at the last minute. So, a couple of quick graphic changes and we had our finished film.
And with the main film together, we then assembled some additional content we had prepared, for both Reels and Landscape content.
If you have an impactful story you want to get out there, let us know. Let's get connected, we'd love to help you create something meaningful to engage your audience.
Overall, it was a fantastic experience. At our initial meeting James left no stone unturned in fully understanding the project and our business. We worked together on the script and James was fantastic at seeing the project from our customer's perspective and was not scared to give feedback where he thought we could get our story across clearer.
