The Brief

We were asked to make a short form film for Addysg Seren Education on how they look to help supply teaching in both primary and secondary education and how the business looks to operate for the needs of customers.

Addysg Seren Education is a teaching recruitment service that was set up in 2016 to help get aspiring teachers into the sector with a focus on areas such as supply teaching as well as full time and assistant teachers. Addysg Seren Education are hugely focused on flexibility and finding jobs that work for all as part of a bigger effort to get more people into the education sector.

The Process

In our video one of the key things we looked to highlight was the importance was the business culture and that by being relatable and having a good understanding of family life and there is more to life than just work. We helped stress that there is a lot of variety to the job and that there are several reasons why working as a supply is more suitable for some.

We also explained how important the Welsh Language was to the brand which immediately drew to the attention of Stori Cymru due to our passion for the Welsh language and want to help draw attention to the Welsh language by stressing the benefits of local businesses being able to communicate with the public in Welsh. In the film Rhiannon spoke of how she and other members of staff have used their background in Welsh to help drive more people to learn the language and that they have also worked with schools that drive the Welsh language as part of their education.

This combination has worked really well by creating a positive environment at the business and that they have been able to grow the team as a result of adopting the business to the needs of individuals and by being able to communicate in the Welsh language this has created a workforce comfortable of adapting to the company culture.

Addysg Seren Education aim to make the pathway into education more accessible and how this is helping supply teachers and those looking to get a foot into teaching. There are a number of challenges that the education sector has faced in particular since the COVID 19 pandemic. Graduate job website Prospects listed pay, workload and admin burdens as some of the main reasons behind teacher shortages in the UK. Recruitment agency Reed also pointed to statistics by the Department for Education which showed that across 2022/2023 “almost 13% of newly qualified teachers are leaving the profession a year after qualifying and almost 19% after their second year” Addysg Seren Education are looking to offer the right support to get more people into supply education.

The Result

We successfully captured the culture that Addysg Seren Education were trying to promote by placing great emphasis on the company culture of being understanding and the importance of Welsh language and that Addysg Seren Education are offering a lot to the sector.

At Stori Cymru we are hugely passionate for the Welsh language and are keen to emphasise the benefits of the Welsh Language for your company and how you can incorporate the Welsh language into how your company functions. We have worked with several brands that place the Welsh language at the heart and centre of their business and its projects such as these that help us form really strong connections.

Many companies speak about how being able to speak Welsh is hugely beneficial and that employers see being bilingual as a major benefit when it comes to hiring people. In addition, more people have been looking to learn Welsh. Data from Learn Welsh shows that in the year 2024/2025 there has been an increase in those learning Welsh. The data states that “a total of 20,445 individuals completed the national centre’s courses in 2024-2025, the highest number recorded, and a 61% increase since data was first published in 2017-2018”

Addysg Seren Education have put an awful lot into the company and have set the foundations to go from strength to strength.
