Promotional Films

Urdd Gobatih Cymru

The Brief

At Stori Cymru we completed a series of short films for Urdd Gobaith Cymru highlighting the opportunities that they are looking to provide to young people through the medium of Welsh and make a positive contribution to areas and communities.

We completed two short films for Yr Urdd with the first highlighting camps in both Pentre Ifan and in Cardiff and what the camps offer and provide, the second one we completed was on Urdd For All which highlighted the different camps and what opportunities that Urdd Gobaith Cymru are providing.

We also displayed use of animations for our video into Urdd For All to bring attention to what the Urdd is looking to provide and encourage schools to visit their facilities and make of the most of the opportunities that Urdd want to provide children with. Urdd have a history of hosting activities in and out of school and look to provide opportunities in Wales and around the world for young people to showcase their talents.

The Process

We managed to capture a range of activities, both indoor and outdoor, as well as this we highlighted a range of services that Urdd are looking to provide for children such as away days, residential courses as well as environmental and wellbeing activities as part of the Pentre Ifan site.

Urdd have placed a great emphasis on promoting outdoor based activities. One of the schemes we highlighted was the Duke of Edinburgh award which has been a great success for teaching young people new skills that will serve them well in later life.

We also looked at the Cardiff base and how they are providing indoor opportunities documenting shots of bowling and of the children getting involved at the BBC Cymru Wales studios in Cardiff. We successfully captured the excitement that was on show and the children really enjoyed the opportunity that Urdd provided.

We tapped into our ability to create and effective animations. One of our animations featured displaying facts and statistics and also displayed the information in both English and Welsh. We also titled some of the videos in the Welsh language as Urdd share Stori Cymru’s commitment to promoting use of the Welsh language in society.

As well as opportunities in the Welsh language, Urdd are also committed to providing opportunities in other countries such as America, India and Japan as well as many more. We are consistently looking to push and learn about other cultures given the emphasis Stori Cymru places on enhancing people’s knowledge on Welsh culture through local projects.

The main point that we looked to emphasise was on how the Urdd provide opportunities from a societal and economical standpoint. Some of the statistics we highlighted in the video were “reaching 160,000 young people and 1090 schools” and an economic worth to Wales of £45 million. From this Urdd have played a crucial role in young people’s development and have become a huge part of Welsh identity.

The Result

Our film was able to demonstrate the positive work that Urdd are doing through a range of shots and demonstrating what Urdd do in a number of ways. Urdd have done a lot to put Wales on the map with events such as Eisteddfod Yr Urdd. Through its work with organisations such as the BBC, S4C and the Welsh Government Urdd has helped make an impact across communities in Wales and around the world.

At Stori Cymru the Welsh language is of great value to us and the ability to tell your story in Welsh is hugely beneficial in today’s society with more of the Welsh population taking up learning the language during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This was a hugely influential project for us having done animations and effective highlights which encapsulated the culture of opportunity that Urdd looks to provide.

This was also a very good project for us personally with Urdd very happy with the quality of our film and how we combined our effective animations, a range of shots and an authentic brand story to make a high-quality promotional film.
