What's Your Stori?

Queen Elizabeth High School

Queen Elizabeth High

The Brief

We were asked to make a pair of short form videos for Queen Elizabeth High School highlighting both the prospectus for newcomers to the school and sixth form students. In our video we allowed the school to emphasise their motto of “Moving forward together” and what the school are doing to ensure that they are capturing this in their work to make life better for staff and pupils.

Stori Cymru have enjoyed a great relationship in working with Queen Elizabeth High School working on a range of short video projects for the school such as explaining the culture, values and what pupils and parents can expect from the school and how they can provide support in any ways possible.

Sixth-form Prospectus Film

In our Sixth form video, we looked to highlight what a sixth form experience can look like by underlining curricular activities such as a performative arts programme that the school runs. By offering other routes towards academic success. This provides students with further skills for the next stages of life and allows students to flourish outside of a classroom environment. We managed to speak to both staff and students who have reflected on past experiences that the school has provided them with and how this has helped them get where they are today.

In addition to the academic factor, we also underlined the human factor of the Queen Elizabeth sixth form. One element of this is that students have more opportunities to just talk to teachers and other members of staff to get a further perspective on how school life is and what staff and the school can do to help you move forward.

School Prospectus Film

We were asked to make a pair of short form videos for Queen Elizabeth High School highlighting both the prospectus for newcomers to the school and sixth form students. In our video we allowed the school to emphasise their motto of “Moving forward together” and what the school are doing to ensure that they are capturing this in their work to make life better for staff and pupils.

In our video documenting the school’s prospectus we underlined about how the school have spoken about community and how students can show off how the school represents their values to the masses. One example of this was the Seren academy as a way of allowing students to express their skills outside of a classroom environment and by the school offering opportunities in areas such as music and sport.

In this video we also helped Queen Elizabeth High School highlight their Welsh education programme. This allows students the opportunity to study through the Welsh language and that the school have high quality staff that are knowledgeable and well trained in the area and by offering the opportunity to study in the choice of English or Welsh they offer something that not many schools in the region offer.

We were also able to complete part of the interview in Welsh and the school can help grow the Welsh language by offering these opportunities. As well as offering opportunities in education through the Welsh language by offering 1 class in every year that study in the Welsh language. Queen Elizabeth High School also host and commemorate events throughout the year that have a special connection with the Welsh language, Instances of this have been the Eisteddfod Ysgol, Diwrnod Shwmae and Dydd Miwsig Cymru.

The Result

From our videos we were able to effectively outline both the academic and human element throughout our projects with Queen Elizabeth High School and this has played a large role behind the success that we have enjoyed working together.

The project aligned with the values of Stori Cymru well as we captured every element of what the school is about and how it aligns with their motto and being able to explain how their motto is core to everything that the school looks to offer. With the focus on the Welsh language, we were able to help the school emphasise its importance.
