The Brief

We were asked to make a short from animation for Saint Hugo Bakery to educate customers on their croissant recipe and what goes into making their croissants.

Saint Hugo Bakery was set up by Ben Conde in Llanelli but since expanded their business with two stores in Swansea and another in Mumbles. He also participated in both the 2022 and 2024 series of Bake Off: The Professionals and has been a guest on Stori Cymru’s What’s Your Stori? podcast.

The Process

We were asked to make a short form animation for Saint Hugo Bakery as the company were looking to expand their presence online and animated video content was a good way of doing this. Animation is a growing trend in the online marketing industry with numerous high profile companies adopting animation as a way of connecting with people online. Examples of this include companies like Apple and Airbnb.

In our animation we explained how there are several steps involved with local businesses in Wales such as Llaeth Beynon and getting their milk from as well as Saint Hugo sourcing eggs in from Carmarthen. They are also working with others outside of Wales with flour coming in from Paris and butter coming in from Edinburgh. The purpose of this was to provide facts as to what went into making their croissants and to get customers to take an interest in the baking aspect of what they provide.

The Result

We were able to create an eye-catching animation with an effective use of colours, pictures and graphics that demonstrated what the company was all about. Saint Hugo have always been about creating bakes that are both eye catching and taste good and demonstrating the level of hard work and professionalism that goes into what they do.

From our work here we demonstrated how having informative and eye-catching animation can help a business in this day and age. In addition, Saint Hugo Bakery have tapped into the idea of online marketing becoming a vital tool for any business big or small to consider and having a positive online presence can only be good for your brand.
